Bill Hebden Photography

After leaving the Marine Corps in mid 1950's, I became interested in photography as a hobby and joined the local camera club. Each week, assignments were given and the best image was selected the following week. After one year, I concluded that if I worked as hard trying to sell my images as I worked to win first in the camera club, I might have some success.

In the 1960's I won the famous Kodak photo contest sponsored by the Boston Globe. That was followed by lots of photos appearing in such New England publications as Vermont Life, Down East, Yankee, Cape Cod Compass, and lots of calendars, greeting card companies. During this time, National Geographic was planning to do an article on a rebel in Vermont who was refusing to sell his land to a large conglomerate. This old timer was a recluse and I knew him well. I was able to get photos for the magazine.

In the late 1960's I began to concentrate on my other hobby passion, Traditional Jazz and Hot Dance Music. My brother Chuck had left me his small collection as he entered WW-II and I continue to add to that even today. In the early 1970's I issued my first releases from this collection on a record label I started called Swing Time. These first issues were on cassette. Because some of the music I issued was not officially Swing music, in 1980 I started another label called Vintage Music Productions LLC. To date, I have issued over 100 different titles. Those that are still available can be ordered here.

Finally, when Adobe first came out with its graphic suite and I learned some of the things it could do, I began to develop an interest in using it to design my CD covers. As my skill level improved, I began to create graphic designs for friends, then did a few for newspapers, brochures, and local club newsletters.

All images on my site are available for publications, websites, calendars, greeting cards, and business use.
